Celebrates National Health Center Week 2013

Bronx Community Health Network, Inc. celebrates National Health Center Week (August 11-17). The weeklong (August 11-17) campaign to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of community health centers will be commemorated with three events. The events will provide health education to patients and the community, recognize outstanding patients and staff members and raise awareness about programs and health care services available for free or at low cost for the community.
BCHN Free Rapid HIV Testing (Oral Swab)

Kicking off the week, BCHN will collaborate with Planned Parenthood’s Project Street Beat to provide free Rapid- HIV Testing (Oral Swab) to community members. All tests are performed in a private air conditioned mobile unit and results are available in 20 minutes. All community members who test will receive a free Metro Card. Walk-ins are welcomed.
No-Cost Digital Mammograms and Clinical Breast Exams (Mobile Unit)

In collaboration with the American-Italian Cancer Foundation, BCHN will continue celebrations by offering No-Cost Mammograms to women over 40 years old, who have not had a mammogram within the last 12 months (1 year). Appointments are necessary.
Annual Healthcare Professionals & Patients’ Recognition Dinner

BCHN will wrap up the week with this annual event that recognizes the hard work of health center staff and hand-selected Patient Health Champions. Health Educators, Nutritionists, Patient Navigators and Peer Educators will be recognized for their efforts and support of the community focused goals of BCHN.
