Our Mission
 |
Bronx Community Health Network, Inc. (BCHN) was founded in 1996 to secure financial and other resources that support and assure access to comprehensive, affordable, quality health care services for residents of medically disadvantaged and underserved New York City communities, regardless of their social, cultural, religious, financial or other status. |
BCHN is committed to the continued development, expansion and delivery of preventative, primary, diagnostic, pharmacy and specialty medical, mental and oral health services to improve the health status of community residents who suffer from disproportionate rates of preventable communicable and chronic illnesses such as asthma, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, obesity and HIV/AIDS.
Our health care services are provided in ten (10) easily accessible, Bronx-based community and school based health centers, in an environment that is sensitive to and respectful of the cultural and ethnic diversity of the people in the communities we serve. Health care is delivered in accordance with recognized medical care standards and the highest ethical principles. Eight (8) of BCHN's member health centers are owned and operated by Montefiore Medical Center, and two by Promesa Systems, Inc.
BCHN Supports Community Health Centers' Advocacy Day
On February 1, 2010, some thirty members of BCHN's community joined hundreds of community health center supporters from across New York State for the annual Community Health Care Association of New York State (CHCANYS) Advocacy Day event in Albany. They met with assembly members and senators, who represent residents of the communities served by the health centers, and discussed the important role health centers play in assuring access to affordable, quality, cost effective health care, improving health status and reducing health disparities for preventable, chronic illness and disability.
