About the Board of Directors

 

One of the unique features of a Federally Qualified Health Center is the composition of its Board of Directors.

 

A minimum of 51% of the membership must be patients of BCHN health centers.  Their experiences as patients give them greater insight into the health centers’ operations and allow them to become effective advocates for improvements in health center services, as well as for new programs and services that address the health care needs of their communities.

 

The rest of the directors are individuals who either live, work or have an interest in the Bronx. Like the health center members, theybring a wide range of expertise, skills and interests to the work of the Board, and are committed to improving health care services, assuring access to quality, affordable health care for all and improving the health status of individuals and families.

Board Committees

 

Board meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month, at 6:00 pm at One Fordham Plaza, Suite 1100, Conference Room B, Bronx, NY.

 

Audit and Finance Committee meetings are also scheduled monthly.

 

Other committees meet regularly, or as needed:  Strategic Planning, Quality Improvement, Legislative, Membership, Nominating, By-Laws and Fundraising/Special Events.

BCHN’s Annual Meeting

 

BCHN hosts its Annual Meeting in the month of May.  It is open to health center patients and the general public.  The meeting is a forum for annual election of officers and presentation of an annual program and financial report.  It is also an opportunity to hear from professionals who are making a difference in the community and to honor individuals with distinguished community service records.
