Our Mission

Bronx Community Health Network, Inc. (BCHN) is a not-for-profit, community-based organization and Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).  Founded in 1996, BCHN's mission is to:

-Improve the health status of residents of medically disadvantaged and underserved communities, especially children and families without health insurance

-Provide and facilitate access to a comprehensive range of affordable, quality health care and related social supports and community health promotion services

-Obtain financial and other resources to support health center and community programs and initiatives

-Promote disease prevention, early treatment and healthful lifestyles

As an FQHC, BCHN is committed to serving everyone who seeks care at its network of health centers, regardless of social, cultural, religious, financial or other status.

BCHN's Board of Directors and staff team are dedicated to the continued development, expansion and delivery of preventative, primary, diagnostic, pharmacy and specialty medical, mental and oral health services to improve the health status of community residents who suffer from disproportionate rates of preventable communicable and chronic illnesses such as asthma, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, obesity and HIV/AIDS.

Our health care services are provided in ten (10) easily accessible, Bronx-based community and school based health centers, in an environment that is sensitive to and respectful of the cultural and ethnic diversity of the people in the communities we serve.  Health care is delivered in accordance with recognized medical care standards and the highest ethical principles. Eight (8) of BCHN's member health centers are owned and operated by Montefiore Medical Center, and two (2) by Promesa Systems, Inc.

BCHN Supports Community Health Centers' Advocacy Day

On February 1, 2010, some thirty members of BCHN's community joined hundreds of community health center supporters from across New York State for the annual Community Health Care Association of New York State (CHCANYS) Advocacy Day event in Albany.  They met with assembly members and senators, who represent residents of the communities served by the health centers, and discussed the important role health centers play in assuring access to affordable, quality, cost effective health care, improving health status and reducing health disparities for preventable, chronic illness and disability.   For more infomation, go to www.chcanys.org.
