Dr. Tarika James, M.D. is a board-certified Family Physician and the Chief Medical Officer at Bronx Community Health Network (BCHN), where she leads efforts to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to underserved communities in the Bronx. Dr. James has over 20 years of healthcare leadership experience, with a focus on improving access to care and reducing health disparities. Her dedication to healthcare equity is at the heart of everything she does. Guided by a firm belief that healthcare is a fundamental right, not a privilege, and a deep commitment to community wellbeing, Dr. James employs a holistic approach to healthcare, blending traditional medicine with functional medicine principles into patient-centered care.
As a National Health Service Corps Scholar, Dr. James has spent much of her career working in culturally diverse communities, where she has developed a deep understanding of the unique healthcare needs and challenges, they face. Dr. James stays at the forefront of medical advancements through her active involvement in several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Institute for Functional Medicine, and the American College of Lifestyle Medicine.
